Leaves are falling! It seems premature but in case you need some time to mentally prepare yourself here are a few things you can do in the coming months to protect your home inside and out.
Interior Maintenance
Seal windows and doors to reduce drafts and water seepage
Have furnace and hot water tank inspected for optimal performance
Clean fireplaces
Exterior Maintenance
Wrap trees and shrubs to protect from impending bad weather
Put way outdoor furniture and accessories
Ensure soil is sloping away from your foundation and clean up debris
Wrap pipes that are exposed or susceptible to cold with foam or fibreglass
Have a chimney inspection and look for cracks or damage in brickwork
Clean eavestroughs, gutters and downspouts
Turn off outdoor water sources and store hoses
Drain swimming pool supply lines and lawn sprinkler systems
Make sure the shovel and or snow blower are ready and accessible….it’s coming eventually!
